Guest Information

We are looking forward to welcoming our guests to our Winter Wonderland Ball, kindly sponsored by Wolseley.

Please find below some helpful information to help you prepare for the evening.

Venue Address: The Underglobe at The Swan, Bankside, SE1 9DT

Event date and time: Friday 19 November, 2021

7.00pm Guest arrival and drinks reception

7.45pm Dinner, auction and entertainment

1.00am Carriages

Guest arrivals:

Please arrive at the venue entrance on the river side between the Swan Restaurant and the Globe Theatre.

Dress Code: Black Tie

Travel and Parking:

We do advise using public transport or taxis to get to the Underglobe.

The nearest stations are: Blackfriars (10 minute walk, South Bank exit, lifts to street level from platform); London Bridge (15 minute walk); Cannon Street (20 minute walk) and Waterloo (25 minute walk).

The Underglobe does not have a dedicated car park and parking on local roads is restricted. The closest NCP is London Vintry Thames Exchange on the north side of Southwark Bridge. https://www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park/car-parks/london-vintry-thames-exchange/

For those with a blue disabled badge there is a small amount of limited parking on New Globe Walk and in the surrounding area.

Ensuring a safe event for all:

During these times we want to make sure that our guests feel confident that we are taking the necessary precautions to keep the event as safe as possible.

We will be asking all guests to take a lateral flow test before they arrive. Proof of a negative test will need to be shown by every guest on the door.

Once you have taken your test, please log the results at https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result this will generate a text and email which you will need to show on the door on arrival.

Should you test positive for COVID-19, feel unwell prior to the event or exhibit any of the COVID-19 symptoms (High temperature, continuous cough or loss of taste and/or smell) please do not attend.

Special Dietary and Access requirements:

All tables hosts have been asked to collate their guest’s special dietary and access requirements. If you have any allergies, special dietary needs or would like to discuss access requirements please get in touch using the details below.

The Auctions:

We are delighted to offer a wonderful array of items in our live and silent auctions. Our auction lots can be viewed in advance on the website from Friday 5 November. Do have a look before you come at www.demelza.org.uk/winter-ball.

You will be able to make bids and donations at the event using your own mobile phone.

If you haven’t yet signed up you can also do that on the website above.

At the start of the event guests will be encouraged to take part in a round of Heads or Tails with a chance to win a luxury item. Entry is £10 per person.

The Silent Auction is open to all, including those not attending the event and will close at 10.30pm on the 19th November.
